ELLERY swoons at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.
These pictures have been sitting on my desktop for well over a week now. And although they're current-no-more, I felt they were too good to be left unshared. Please enjoy these shots of embellished, structured, high-heeled magic, as they continue to buckle my knees. Her name is Kym Ellery. Perhaps you've stumbled upon a streestyle candid of her on fellow fashionlord Garance Dore's blog? And what's her story morning glory?
Kym launched the self-titled line, Ellery in Sydney Australia back in 2007. Prior to creating the label she worked for RUSSH Magazine as their Market Director.
She then studied Fashion Design and Production in her hometown of Perth before making a serious career move to London, England. She enrolled and excelled in Central Saint Martins College's design program, and is now producing the sweetest pieces of wearable decadence going. I've stumbled upon Kym Ellery a few times before, but this collection really tugged at my heart strings. Go ahead, get used to the name. Chances are you'll be seeing a lot more of it.

ATITMO

no thank you, Nik Smith. a fellow bloggergirlfriend recently asked if i'd be comfortable doing a quick feature for her personal lifestyle blog, "A Thought In The Mind Of". Nik decided to add a “features” section to the blog a few months ago, that would include interviews with different people working in the industry touching on fashion, lifestyle, and personality etc.
but an interview on me? well i've never done anything like this Mrs.Smith. but at the same time, i've also never turned down talking fashion. so of course my horse!
i studied hard and prepped myself for the unthinkable. turns out i passed the test.
click here to be redirected to ATITMO. a slightly more inspiring page than the one you're grazing. i've been following for a few months now, and find myself looking, feeling, and acting more and more like super woman everyday. she must rent storage space for her loads of positive energy. it's never ending. and don't get me started on her humor and personal style.
keep feeding it to us Nik, and thanks for the air time :)

nail feed

weird

this might be the first time i've sported red nails in all 22 years of me. seriously, i don't even think i rocked red nail polish as the dress-up diva title i earned at 6 years old. back in my prime. and those who knows me are likely aware that i'm not a big fan of the color red in general. (with the exception of the soles on a height-heavy, overpriced pair of shoes of course.)
a few months ago i scored myself one of the last seats on the 'red lip bandwagon' and was pleasantly surprised with results. feeling all confident with my recent hue experimentation, another nutty something came over me last weekend when i checked in with my manicurist. it was time to try something out of my ordinary. (thrilling, i know).
it could have been the partly nude selection of Sandra's standard Shellac collection that triggered this unfamiliar color. or the fact that it was the only one that wouldn't have me looking like a 9 year old walking out of the salon. so..fire-engine-spicy-looking-bright-honking red it was. and let me tell you, it had to be the most awkward paint job of my life. i cringed and questioned myself the whole time. i felt like a woman in her seventy's after the first coat, and Cruella de Ville after the second.
after four layers of lacquer and another 4 of UV, it was confirmed. i would leave the salon with 10 cinnamon hearts glued to my phalanges. i don't even like cinnamon. this stuff looks like blood. and i.do.not.do.blood. everything's just so..bright. and now i have to walk around with these things for 12 to 14 days? they're impossible to ignore. do you know how much i text?
on top of that uncomfortable half hour, i now catch myself looking down and not recognizing my own hands. in line at java u, feeding my parking meter, photocopying, moisturizing. it's been awkward and i just don't know that i can handle the confusion again. sorry rouge, it's been real.

remember when i reactivated this thing? and then told myself i'd keep up with it? well i got busy again, dipped back into some of my bad habits. (procrastination and exploring montreal). but hey, here's to another attempt.
a few shots from last month's vintage pop event. and while there were SO many wearable goodies i could have taken home, there's also only SO much room in my pint-sized closet. stay tuned for a peek at the two pieces i snagged for for twenty five, and thirty smackers. friggen steal!
